Ira Cohen has more than 40 years of experience in the mortgage banking industry. He began his career at ARCS Mortgage in 1978 after graduating from Brandeis University and the UCLA School of Management, Executive Management Program. At ARCS he joined the Sales staff as a Senior Loan officer, eventually becoming the Senior Vice President of Sales where he grew the initial core group of branches to 25. In 1985 he was recognized for his contributions to the company’s growth and given the title of Executive Vice President. He spent the next ten years pushing the boundaries of ARCS Mortgage until he had transformed the Sales group to a total of 56 branches with over $1 billion dollars of annual origination volume, a greater than 50% increase. By 1995 he had succeeded in guiding the company to the 27th largest mortgage banking firm with a servicing portfolio of $10 billion.
That same year he committed himself to starting his own business and co-founded The Mortgage House, a local residential mortgage lending company. Serving as the firms co-CEO he shepherded the company from one office and one employee to a Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac approved seller/servicer with ten offices and just under a hundred employees. During the 2008-2010 financial crisis, Cohen was able to lead the company through those difficult times, retaining profitability and volume at a time when many other companies were forced to fold.
In 2018, with his partner retiring, Cohen made the decision to consolidate his company for future strength as the mortgage industry continued to undergo changes. He not only assisted in combining The Mortgage House into Dignified Home Loans, but worked to also combine Broadview Home Loans into the fold simultaneously. As the President of the expanded entity, Cohen oversees more than 200 employees in 27 branches throughout California and Nevada.
